General Description

DUTY NOT PAID. NOT FOR SALE TO US CITIZENS IN US WATERS.

This very seaworthy catamaran was built by the owner, a qualified aerospace welder, using plans from Austrailian desiner, Owen Easton.

Owen Easton designed and built the first of a series of aluminium cruising catamarans in 1989 following many years of offshore cruising in a variety of mono and multi-hulled vessels. This experience culminated in a fast, safe, well thought out and comfortable cruising yacht in which he and his family have recently completed a 6-year circumnavigation. Subsequent vessels are sailing under Australian, French, Belgium, Canadian and United States flags, many of which are currently cruising or undertaking circumnavigations.

In order to meet the requirements for trans-ocean registration under French Affaire Maritime, stringent floatation and structural inspections were undertaken on one of our vessels with French registration. Features of an Easton Catamaran are:

Round bilge flared hulls thus maximizing living space within the hulls.

Narrow bows.

Extensive use of netting/trampolines

Limiting bridge deck accommodation to the maximum desirable instead of the maximum possible.

Low profile bridge deck with standing headroom if required.

Maximum practical waterline to bridge deck clearance has been maintained for safety.

Large forward and aft watertight compartments in each hull.

Covered steering station offering protection from wind, spray and sun.

Hull and deck constructed of 4mm plate

Cabin and canopy constructed of 4mm plate.

This example sailed to Cuba and Jamaica and it's 65 ft rotating mast was damaged in route early in it's life. It was diffficult to repair in Jamaica and it was fitted with a shorter 50 ft mast for return to the United States.

The very lightly used original sails are still onboard.

The best client for this vessel is someone who wants a trully unique, fast and secure 50 ft catamaran and is willing to bring back this boat to it's original condition.

The most logical approach would be to secure another 65 ft mast and new rigging to use the excellent sail inventory.

The hulls appear to be in very good condition and the interior will take very little effort to bring back the luster of the custom woodwork.

The pictures listed are dated. The owners pictures from the years 2006 to approximately 2011. The other pictures are from May 2014 in it's present condition.
